CUSHENDALL PARISH AND VILLAGE
Cushendall is a coastal village situated on the famous Antrim Coast Road. Located in the Heart of the Glens of Antrim it is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Cushendall comes from the Irish ‘Cois Abhann Dala’ which means ‘foot of the river Dall’ which flows down Glenballyeamon into the Sea of Moyle.
Most days, the Mull of Kintyre, Sanda Island and Ailsa Craig in Scotland are visible from our shores. The village and parish of Cushendall has a growing population of approximately 1500 and its unique character was recognised in 1973 when it was the second village in Northern Ireland to be designated as a Conservation Area. Agriculture is the main economic activity, with the public and service sector, as well as tourism, being very significant industries.
